Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
This is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a website from search engines. The earlier (or higher) a website appears in the search engine's results, the more visitors the more visitors the site will receive.
File Transfer Protocol (FTP)
This is the process which allows for the website to be transferred to its specified web space (see Web Hosting above). All that's necessary are three pieces of information, which (for example) are ftp.domainname.co.uk / Username / Password. Any PC can upload files to the Internet, however most people prefer to download a free piece of software which makes the process even easier and quicker.
Web statistics
These help website owners monitor which aspects of their website are the most popular, how long people stay on the website and how they found the website. Therefore allowing the website owner to see which part of marketing or advertising is working the best. You can also monitor how many Visitors the site has (individual people) or how many Hits the website is having (how many pages are viewed).
Upload
This is when you transfer files from a PC to the Internet (upload files)
Download
This is when you transfer files from the Internet to the PC (download files)

This is an animation-based programme and is used to create the vast majority of animation which you see on the web.
Photoshop
This is the most popular Graphics tool used by web designers and photographers.
Dreamweaver
This is the most popular (and complex) web design tool on the market. Web designers are able to 'view' websites as they are created and edit the coding alongside.
NetObjects Fusion
This is a very similar programme to Dreamweaver, however it's much easier to use.
